Fluent Commerce: The Future of Global Commerce

About: Fluent Commerce is an Australian cloud software company focused on order management for omnichannel retail. High profile customers include Dior, Woolworths, JD Sports, Samsung, eBay, and French Connection.

Location: Offices in Sydney, Australia as well as the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the US.

Fast-paced & Flexible: Fluent Commerce’s culture

Our culture is enriched and strengthened through diversity – different backgrounds, experiences, nationalities, and gender of course.

From a local Australian company, Fluent has grown into a globally recognised brand and secured $33 million in Series B funding, led by US growth equity firm Arrowroot Capital last year. We’ve attracted some of the brightest and best minds who want to experience the exciting phase of a start-up moving into scale-up mode. We currently have just under a hundred staff.

We thrive working in an extremely flexible, open, honest and transparent work environment where trust is crucial. Despite working in a fast-paced environment, the team regularly take time to connect and reflect.

“During CoVID-19, we are all working remotely from home but as life begins to return more to normal we look forward to joining together again for ice-cream Fridays, monthly treats, team building workshops, family fun days, Ted Talk sessions and of course our annual whole company get together ‘Fluent Fest’,” explains Graham Jackson, CEO, Fluent Commerce.

Work-life balance at Fluent Commerce

Flexibility is part of the company values, and to support this Fluent Commerce provide all staff with unlimited annual and sick leave. Staff don’t need to share specifics or give management a reason. They can take the time they need, whenever they need and for as long as they need without fear that it will negatively impact their career progression.

This goes back to the huge importance of trust. If you can’t trust your employees, you need to look at your hiring process. The culture and working infrastructure support staff to talk frankly without any fear of repercussions.

“While during the pandemic, taking the trip of a lifetime might be on hold, staff are confident in the knowledge that they’re supported professionally and personally and can strike the work life balance they need,” explains Graham.

Many of the team have young families and are encouraged to enjoy time with them. “Our work is important, and we value our employee’s commitment, but we don’t expect them to prioritise work over taking care of their loved ones,” he stresses.

Company values

Fluent Commerce has 5 core values that describe what we stand for, what we look for in our new employees and what we want our existing employees to pass on:

Flexy – flexible work policy, work from anywhere, in any environment.

Killing it – passionate about being the best, we like to win and we’re proud of it.

Outrageous and courageous – not afraid to lead the way, always aim high and big.

Fast and furious – highly responsive to clients, continuous delivery, OKR methodology.

Fair dinkum – mutual trust, transparency, socially responsible.

Employee benefits

In addition to our unlimited leave policy, we offer a retention scheme where share options are given to staff on a regular basis, annual allowance for personal development, an annual budget staff can spend on tools they feel will help them excel in their role, in-house training and a personalised development plan.
