Zendaya, a tour de force in the entertainment industry, has become a household name as a multifaceted actress, musician, dancer, and designer. From her early days as a child model and backup dancer to her breakout role in Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, professionally known as Zendaya, has continually evolved and expanded her craft.
Now, not only does she grace the silver screen with her acting prowess, but she also belts out tunes, dances with impeccable rhythm, and designs fashionable attire. Amidst her thriving career and a massive online following of over 180 million million on Instagram, the actress never shies away from sharing bits and pieces of her life, making her even more relatable and endearing to her fans.
In a previous conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, the Spiderman superstar gave readers an all-access pass into her day, detailing everything from the moment she wakes up to the second her head hits the pillow. Her day starts at 8:00 AM, although she admits to being a “lie-around type” and sometimes debates whether to get up or sleep for another 10 minutes. “If I’m being a little more of a diva, I’ll lie around for a full two hours,” she says. Upon waking, she checks her notifications and calendar, usually unaware of her schedule for the day.
By 8:45 AM, she starts her day by interacting with her family, who live with her in her Los Angeles home. Zendaya loves having her family around and emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive environment. “I actually wake up and I’m happy, the sun is shining, and I’ll knock on my niece’s door and be like, ‘Good morning, I love you.’ It’s great,” she shares.
Her morning beauty routine starts at 9:00 AM with a shower, followed by a skincare regimen that includes a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, lip balm, and mascara. “If you have a good lip balm, you can use it as a highlighter for your cheeks as well. It’s a double whammy,” she suggests.
Despite not being a breakfast person, Zendaya eats breakfast food around 10:00 AM, preferably with Nutella. Her clothing brand, Daya, reflects her multifaceted lifestyle and her preference for comfort, as she often wears sweatpants and jumpsuits from her collection.
By noon, the actress is working, often from various locations. “The best part of my job is that I work everywhere… I can have a meeting from my car, from my room, from the set, from dressing rooms—literally anywhere,” she says. Her busy schedule involves juggling multiple commitments, from shooting on set to phone meetings about her clothing line and recording studio sessions.
At 1:30 PM, she admits to sometimes forgetting to eat due to her workload, but snacks throughout the day, usually on a cup of noodles with hot sauce. “People are like, ‘Zendaya, it’s high in sodium!’ but it’s what I want to eat,” she explains. She doesn’t drink coffee, energy drinks, soda, or fancy juices, preferring Tropicana or lemonade.
By 3:00 PM, she is focused on her clothing line, Daya. “I can’t promote self-love and body empowerment and not have a clothing line that reflects that,” she asserts. Designing, for her, is akin to making music, as both involve having a vision and executing it.
Zendaya doesn’t cook and often uses Postmates to order food around 6:00 PM. She tries to consider her housemates’ preferences, but ultimately, the final decision is hers. Her living situation is harmonious, as her family understands boundaries and respects each other’s space.
At 7:30 PM, she spends time with her housemates or relaxes in her sparsely furnished home. Her evening routine starts at 9:00 PM with makeup removal, face washing, teeth brushing, and another shower. Although she occasionally falls asleep in her clothes, she usually watches shows like Weeds and Shameless before falling asleep.
In an interview with British Vogue, Zendaya opened up about her experience with therapy. “I think it’s a beautiful thing… there’s nothing wrong with working on yourself,” she says. The pandemic brought a sense of sadness and a “dark cloud” that she discusses with her therapist.
Despite her success, Zendaya feels the pressure of maintaining her career and financial stability. “I’m always like, ‘I will always need to work.’ Because if I don’t work then everything can be gone tomorrow,” she reveals.
Zendaya’s daily groove is a masterclass in juggling self-care, grinding hard, and keeping vibes positive. Whether she’s rocking her morning beauty rituals, crushing work commitments, chilling with family, or diving deep in therapy sessions, she navigates her whirlwind life with a keen sense of self and a laser focus on mental wellness. Simply put, her way of life is a shining example of bouncing back stronger, a relentless drive for bettering oneself, and championing empowerment.
