1) To kick things off, could you tell us a little about your career background and current role?

My educational background includes an engineering degree, MBA and entrepreneurship certificate. Early in my career, I’ve worked in corporations such as Unilever, the IMF and Emirates Airline, and more recently I’ve been a serial tech business founder and mentor to other entrepreneurs.

Currently, I lead a global content movement known as FELS, which aims to guide aspiring entrepreneurs into more personal growth & success.

2) What does a day in your life look like for you? Can you take us through a recent workday?

As a self-employed person managing multiple activities, my days are never the same and can vary from working remotely from anywhere in the world, to being on a flight or meeting with people in different places. My work and rest times are interchangeable in daytime, evening, weekends or holidays as they are all the same for active entrepreneurs!

3) What does work-life balance mean to you and how do you work to achieve that goal?

For an entrepreneur work-life balance mainly means doing only things that you love so it doesn’t really feel like work, while also pacing yourself to avoid burnout and missing any social activities or healthy habits.

Smart entrepreneurs always choose what they personally do and what they can outsource to others, in order to minimise their own load and keep plenty of time open for ideation/creative inspiration like travelling, meditating and practising diverse hobbies.

4) In the past 12 months, have you started or stopped any routines or habits to change your life?

One of the tricks I use is to keep all my phone notifications off and have certain hours when I completely disconnect from communication to maintain private or family time. I also ensure to always get enough sleep, have ample time for healthy meals and choose specific times for external meetings to avoid traffic frustrations or wasted transit time.

5) Do you have any favourite books, podcasts or newsletters that you’d like to recommend?

Certainly, The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss is an amazing guide for those who wish to unshackle themselves from “corporate slavery” and grow a thriving side hustle while maintaining a healthy balance with other aspects of life. Tim also runs a famous podcast about similar topics.

6) If you could read an interview about work-life balance by anyone, who would that be?

I’d have to choose Tim Ferriss as I have mentioned! He speaks about a healthy balance of having a side-hustle whilst maintaining the rest of your life. I really enjoy his ideas and I think a more in-depth interview with him about work-life balance would be interesting.

7) Do you have any last thoughts on work, life or balance that you’d like to share with our readers?

My main message would be that regardless of your type of work, never neglect to take care of yourself or your loved ones. Only a healthy mind and body can be productive, and our social health is equally important!
