1) To kick things off, could you tell us a little about your career background and current role?
My educational background is in Mechanical Engineering – I focused my studies on Robotics. After college, I started my journey in the oil/gas industry. I was a production engineer for an oil & gas service provider and worked on offshore and onshore rigs.
I spent time in Abu Dhabi, California, Texas and Alaska. I left the industry due to a rig accident and decided to move home to Florida. I worked alongside my father, in private aviation, selling aircraft for a short time before starting my first tech startup called Ment. Ment was an app to help travelers navigate the airport in real-time, i.e. “Waze for Airports.”
We launched at JFK, LGA and EWR. I raised angel funding and eventually sold assets of the business at the beginning of 2018.
Quickly after, I started The Lieu, we deliver premium grooming and personal care products to women in offices, co-working, and event spaces. I am co-founder and CEO of the company. We recently joined a prop tech accelerator and received our initial funding.
2) What does a typical day in the life look like for you? Can you take us through a recent workday?
Lots and lots of emails, my life basically consists of answering emails all day long. Welcome to the glamorous life of being an entrepreneur! I also spend time in meetings and occasionally attend entrepreneurial events. We are currently fundraising, most of time is spent courting investors both online and offline.
3) Does your current role allow for flexible or remote working? If so, how does that fit into your life and routine?
Yes it does but I work out of a co-working space. I don’t work from home, I like the fact that I “go to work.” It keeps me on track and more productive throughout the day.

4) Do you have any tips, tricks or shortcuts to help you manage your workload and schedule?
If it’s not on my calendar, it doesn’t exist in my brain. I check my schedule every morning to prepare myself for the day and I rarely deviate from it. It establishes boundaries for myself and others. I respect my time and others should too.
5) What does work-life balance mean to you and how do you work to achieve that goal?
I don’t believe in “work-life balance,” I believe in establishing boundaries for myself and others.
The 6 fundamental needs of humans are food, water, shelter, sleep, others and novelty. I live by these fundamentals. I fuel my body with food to make it thrive and drink only water. I cut out things that didn’t serve me like alcohol, processed foods and carbohydrates. It makes me feel amazing. I make sure my living space is clean and tidy.
It drastically improves my mood if my space is in order. I sleep 6-7 hours a night and if I need more sleep, I give my body more sleep or rest. I spend ample time with friends and my significant other. I love to learn new skills and am always on the quest for knowledge.
6) What do you think are some of the best habits you’ve developed over the years to help you strive for success and balance?
I don’t watch TV and I’m not socially active on Instagram, FB and Snapchat. It creates a lot of time in my schedule to focus on things that I care about (as stated above).
7) Are there any books that have helped you improve over the years?
- 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan Peterson
- Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. by Brene Brown
- 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
8) What is the number one thing you do to make sure you get the most out of your day?
I pray and meditate. I keep my mornings sacred and it prepares me for the day.
