What does self-care mean to you?

Self-care is prioritising myself and placing my mental and physical needs above all the other things.

How do you know when you’re feeling stressed or burnt out?

I can tell by my sleep patterns – if I’m stressed about something, it’s hard for me to relax and switch off because I’m thinking about it too much.

I can also tell if I’m stressed by my mood and my patience – sometimes, the smallest thing can really irritate me.

Do you have a regular self-care routine? If so, what does it look like?

So that I switch off from my email, work chat groups and social media, I’ll use the sleep function on my iPhone and switch to sleep mode so that it blocks all notifications and distractions until I wake up in the morning.

I’ll do Reformer Pilates at least 2-3 times a week – this is the one thing in my diary that is regular and my routine each week.

Also, diet is a big part of my self-care routine. I’m not a big drinker but I used to order UberEATS often because I was too lazy to cook. So now, my partner and I cook more at home during the weeknights but we also make sure to treat ourselves on the weekends.

What bumps you off your self-care routine and how do you get back on course?

It’s usually a work meeting to catch someone in a different time zone or a social event. But to be honest, I’ve become quite strict with my routine, and I know for example if I miss a reformer class, I must make it up elsewhere in my diary. It’s about practising discipline and prioritising yourself.

Where do you go for inspiration, ideas or tools for self-care?

We are very fortunate at LADbible where we have a Wellbeing Manager who offers meditation, yoga classes as well as wellbeing tips.
