What does self-care mean to you?

It means I can be the best version of myself, by looking after my physical, physiological, mental and emotional needs.

How do you know when you’re feeling stressed or burnt out?

I can’t concentrate, I don’t sleep, I am snappy with loved ones, and am easily tearful.

Do you have a regular self-care routine? If so, what does it look like?

It’s pretty simple. Regular exercise (I love a run or spin class), getting outdoors (whether through running/ walking with friends or simply a wander around a local park- so lucky London has great outdoor spaces). Socialising: seeing friends and family for food, drinks or parties.

Sleep is crucial, ideally 8+ hours, and being stimulated by the work I love (building HANX, of course!). I am not one for lots of beauty treatments but an occasional mani/pedi or spa day with friends doesn’t go amiss. Oh, and holidays always need to be in the diary.

What bumps you off your self-care routine and how do you get back on course?

If one aspect of my life takes over, often work, social events or moving house(!), the balance shifts and sleep is normally the one thing that gets cut. I am really not on top form without enough sleep!

I tend to go to bed fairly early normally, so when I recognise that’s not happening, I prioritise getting back into my routine and make a conscious effort to reject Netflix bingeing in the evening to win back extra hours.

What do you think you need to improve in terms of your self-care practice?

As a founder, there are always new things I’m learning or problems I’m solving. I’m naturally a positive person, which means I dive into the challenge with optimism, but I also know that resilience is a skill that requires constant development. I’d like to continue evolving this to ensure I’m ready to adapt and handle any future hurdles, professionally and personally.
