In this edition of Workflow, we have Jacqui Roth, Senior Brand Manager at Lion, talking about her no-coffee challenge, eating the frogs, and yoga vibes.
Workflow is an interview series by Balance the Grind to get a glimpse into people’s working styles and workspaces. If you’re interested in sharing your workflow, submit it here!
Describe what you do: I am the Senior Brand Manager for Greek Yogurt and Desserts at Lion Dairy & Drinks. I look after all marketing aspects of Farmers Union Greek Style Yogurt, YOGO choc custard and Divine Crème Caramel!
How do you like your coffee: I actually challenged myself to do a year without coffee! That year is now up so I have started drinking my weak lattes/delicious instant coffee again!
Device(s) you use: Just my ThinkPad work laptop and my iPhone 8!
Describe your working style in one sentence: Mornings are for refining my to-do list for the day and attempting to ‘eat the frogs’ i.e. smash out all of the critical and challenging pieces of work amongst meetings!
After lunch it’s usually time for a few hours of meetings before finishing the day with another burst of project work! I respond to my emails throughout the day, sometimes just as they pop up if they require relatively straightforward responses!

What does your workspace look like: It’s pretty simple! I just work off my laptop which, at the moment, is being held up by my two yoga blocks (I had to get creative)! Surrounded by my favourite plants, my favourite mug with a sloth on it (my boss calls me Rothy Slothy!), a notebook/pen for note taking and my Gabby Bernstein ‘Universe Card’ that reads “When I am grateful for what I have, I can feel good along the way to what I desire”.
How does your workspace affect your creative process: I find it more difficult to work amongst clutter. Clear desk = clear mind. I also find that looking at/being in nature unlocks my creativity which is why having plants on my desk is so important. I often find myself getting lost in the greenery as I am looking for creative solutions.
My Gabby Bernstein card is so important to me too- it helps me to maintain perspective and gratitude every single day. If I am ever feeling a momentary lapse in creativity or lacking motivation, her words get me back on the wagon!
Do you have a favourite playlist for work: I listed to a ‘Yoga Studio’ playlist on Spotify.
Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: One of my besties and a total legend, Grace Cliffe.
