Workflow with Veronica Nguyen, Marketing Assistant

In this edition of Workflow, we have Veronica Nguyen (nominated by myself), Marketing Assistant at Market Australia, talking about Bulletproof coffee on the weekdays.

Workflow is an interview series by Balance the Grind to get a glimpse into people’s working styles and workspaces. If you’re interested in sharing your workflow, get in touch with us!

Describe what you do: I’m the Marketing Assistant & Head of the Beauty Department at Market Australia. I oversee all beauty products that we launch with tasks such as forecasting, researching trends as well as content creation for social media.

I also run The Vee Word – a blogging website where I write about beauty products and lifestyle in general. As a side hustle, I also currently do freelance writing and social media management for two clients.

How do you like your coffee: Bulletproof on the weekdays, milk and maple syrup on the weekends!

Device(s) you use: MacBook Pro for pretty much all my creatives facets (iMovie, Adobe Creative apps), Samsung Galaxy S10 (for those perfect candid shots), Beats Powerbeats Pro for a good sweat sesh.

Describe your working style in one sentence: I’m the type to get all the boring admin stuff out of the way, flag important emails for follow-up and spend most of the work day with content creation (of course, if there are meetings or urgent projects, those are prioritised).

What does your workspace look like: At the moment, I’m spending 3 out of 5 days working from home and only working on my MacBook which can be quite frustrating (I have a much bigger monitor at work which is a lot more convenient).

I make notes in my 2020 calendar diary, have my candle going, always water and coffee or tea (depending on the time of day). I also usually have music or a podcast going in the background.

How does your workspace affect your creative process: My workspace at home is quite organised however in my diary, I have notes pretty much scrambled everywhere. When I get a hint of creativity, I’ll jot it down as soon as possible because I’m as forgetful as they come!

Always having pen and paper by my side helps me, especially when I’m going through writer’s block – getting that bit of inspiration is a great feeling however being able to write it down before it goes away, is necessary to my creative process.

Do you have a favourite playlist for work: The Sword and Scale podcast playlist is always great however if I’m in the mood for tunes, definitely some Khalid, Sam Smith or The Weeknd.

Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Karen Eley from Women Talking Finance.
