In this edition of Workflow, we have journalist, writer and travel & lifestyle blogger Alejandra Cerball, on her top tips for a productive day and using airplane mode.
Describe what you do: My background is in journalism and storytelling, and I worked as a news reporter for 10+ years in the United States. In 2017, I started freelance writing so I could earn money while I was travelling around the world.
Today, I currently work as a writer, helping brands build trust with their audience through creative storytelling and content writing. I also run alexcerball.com, a travel + lifestyle website featuring destination guides, motivation + mindset ideas for a healthy life, and interviews with female entrepreneurs.
How do you like your coffee: I love cappuccinos.
Device(s) you use: My MacBook Air has travelled the world with me for the last few years. I use Google Docs, Asana, and Monday.com to help me stay organized.
Describe your working style in one sentence: I like to organize my to-do list the night before, so I know what I need to do as soon as I wake up. Organization is key! I prefer to turn in assignments before the deadline, so I focus on getting those done before I start tackling other projects. Here are my top tips on how to have a productive day. I also find it helpful to switch my phone to airplane mode for a few hours, so I don’t get distracted by texts, calls, or notifications.
What does your workspace look like: I have a few plants, a printer, and my laptop on my desk at home. I can’t focus if there is clutter. Now that the weather is cooler, I also enjoy working outside in our backyard. We just bought some new outdoor plants, so it’s a very calming environment.
Do you have a favourite playlist for work: When I’m writing, I prefer to work in a quiet environment.
Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Carly and Kayla from Digital Talent Co. and Lexie from dk active.
