In this edition of Workflow, we have Dean McPherson (nominated by Diony), co-founder of Paperform talking about sharing a home office space with his wife.
Describe what you do: I run Paperform (an online form builder) with my wife Diony. My day to day is all about managing the product, and keeping up to date with our growth team.
How do you like your coffee: Black primarily. I’m a bit of a gun on the home espresso these days, so I do drink more milk coffee than I used to, but black coffee will always be my first love.
Device(s) you use: Currently running a 2016? Macbook Pro 15″ and pretty specced out. 27″ 5K LG Monitor, and Nuraphones for audio.
Describe your working style in one sentence: Don’t talk to me, I’m trying to think.
What does your workspace look like: I have a home office that I share with my wife Diony – it’s a really weird shaped room (long and thin, with a platform down one end 🤷🏻♂️) that has external access from our house. We share a really large desk, but are rarely in the room at the same time.
Do you have a favourite playlist for work: It’s a little ego-centric but I have my own playlist. It was actually part of something we’re doing with our team.
Every two weeks or so, we have a different team member put together a playlist of the favourites and share it with the team. Because we’re remote first (even before COVID-19), we find it helps to have a few things like this to force people out of their shell a little bit more.
Other than my own playlist, I still listen to a lot of full albums, and will often tailor album selection to mood or the kind of work I’m trying to get done.
Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Daniel Kempe from Quuu.
