In this edition of Workflow, we have Isabella Hynes, Director of Arch Rivals Marketing, talking about thriving under pressure, and her workspace up in the air.
Workflow is an interview series by Balance the Grind to get a glimpse into people’s working styles and workspaces. If you’re interested in sharing your workflow, submit it here!
Describe what you do: I’m the director of a social media and marketing agency, Arch Rivals Marketing. We specialise in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, project management, strategy and brand direction.
Prior to starting Arch Rivals Marketing in 2019, I worked for multiple national media brands such as marie claire, InStyle, BEAUTYcrew and Girlfriend as well as iconic Sydney destinations – The Queen Victoria Building and The Strand Arcade.
How do you like your coffee: Short and strong. My go-to order is an almond piccolo.
Device(s) you use: 15-inch MacBook Pro, iPhone 11 Pro and my AirPods are daily essentials. On top of that to assist with content creation I use a Canon EOS DSLR and DJI Osmo Mobile 2 Gimbal.
Describe your working style in one sentence: I thrive under pressure and work well when I am multi-tasking, I love having a lot of projects on the go.

What does your workspace look like: We have clients in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney so my workspace varies from my desk, a co-working space at Work Club Global and even up in the air via a Virgin Australia business pod.
However my main workspace will always feature my laptop, several notepads (although I run a digital agency, I live for my to-do lists and scribbling down on paper!) and my 2020 diary to see my week and month at a glance.
How does your workspace affect your creative process: I find when my workspace is messy and too cluttered it can affect my mindset. I always like a clean and neat space to work so I am not distracted. Plus having a coffee on hand always helps! I also love the energy of working around others, so I love my days at Work Club Global – meeting new faces and just the general buzz.
Do you have a favourite playlist for work: Sounds corny but “Morning Motivation” by Spotify is my go-to, it is the perfect mix of upbeat but still background music so it’s great for the office.
Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Director of PayLater Travel, Farouk Ismail – such an amazing business and also a client of mine.
