Workflow with Jessica Arvela, Co-Founder of Project Everest Ventures

In this edition of Workflow, we have Jessica Arvela, Co-Founder of Project Everest Ventures, talking about her WFH set-up with surfboards and Patagonia books.

Workflow is an interview series by Balance the Grind to get a glimpse into people’s working styles and workspaces. If you’re interested in sharing your workflow, submit it here!

Describe what you do: We build sustainable solutions to social issues with a business model at Project Everest Ventures. It’s a mix of international development, enterprise, and leadership.

How do you like your coffee: Large soy latte. Although I am on a current 4-week hold, along with Uber Eats, avocados, and vegan meats, just to give it a rest.

Device(s) you use: 15-inch MacBook Pro, Mac keypad and mouse, not even sure on the monitor to be honest, and Note 9 phone.

Describe your working style in one sentence: Passionate, varied, flexible, intense, and committed. Like so many of us, I currently have a lot of Zoom meetings, I like to attend them on my phone while I walk to get coffee, or just walk around the block to be outside in the sun and moving. Clearing my inbox is a daily mountain, that’s where my opportunities are, so it feels good to get through it. I jump from this to that, and enjoy multitasking, I don’t care who said it was inefficient. That wasn’t one sentence!

What does your workspace look like: Currently WFH, a glass desk, and a swivel chair both from Gumtree, max $40. Surfboard to my right, Patagonia books stacked for inspiration under the monitor stand, a big open window in front of the desk, crystals lined out front of the monitor, and plants either side.

Do you have a favourite playlist for work: I don’t listen to music when I work, it’s too distracting. If anything, classic, although it’s rare.

Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Lily Partridge, from Project Everest Ventures.
