In this edition of Workflow, we have Jordan Hughes, a Sydney-based multidisciplinary designer and currently the Design Lead at cybersecurity SaaS platform UpGuard.
Describe what you do: I’m a Product Designer based in Sydney, Aus. I’m currently Design Lead at UpGuard, one of the world’s fastest-growing cybersecurity SaaS platforms.
Outside of work, I spend my nights working on freelance or side projects; notably goodbooks.io and himalayas.app (launching soon!)
How do you like your coffee: Big batch of Chemex filter at the start of the day.
Device(s) you use:
- 15″ Macbook Pro
- Single 27″ BenQ Monitor
- Rain Design mStand
- AirPod Pros
Describe your working style in one sentence: Avoid meetings like the COVID and short sprints of deep work. I wrote a bit more about how I structure my day here.
What does your workspace look like: Minimal and uncluttered. I’d love to have better lighting and a larger desk, but I’m using a built-in desk in my apartment at the moment.
How does your workspace affect your creative process: My physical workspace doesn’t affect me too much, as long as it’s clean and uncluttered. My work environment matters more. Loud colleagues and a meeting culture are not conducive to good work or focus.
Do you have a favourite playlist for work: I’ve tried curating focus playlists in the past, but they’re too much effort to maintain! Spotify’s Release Radar and Discover Weekly are great if I’m digging for new music.
Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Jenny Chu, Product Lead at Eucalyptus and Johnnie Gomez, Brand Designer at Webflow.
