Workflow with Megan Andrew, Freelance Writer & Content Creator

In this edition of Workflow, we have freelance writer and content creator Megan Andrew, talking about drinking five teas a day and doing her best work at her desk.

Describe what you do: I create blog content, white papers, e-books, social content and everything in between. I work with a mix of local and interstate agencies as well as working directly with clients all over Australia.

How do you like your coffee: I’m really not a coffee fan, actually, but I promise I’m not a weirdo. I get my caffeine fix from drinking about 5 teas a day and I try to alternate between herbal and black tea.

Device(s) you use: MacBook Air as well as my good old fashioned paper diary to (try to) organise myself!

Describe your working style in one sentence: Some serious organisation and prioritisation, concentrated bursts of energy and plenty of tea to help me power through the rest.

What does your workspace look like: Clutter-free and tidy, with some plant life and plenty of light. I like to move around through the day to mix things up. When I really need to get in the “zone” I’m writing at my desk, otherwise, I’ll be on the couch or outside in the sun!

How does your workspace affect your creative process: My workspace affects my process enormously. While I have learnt to write literally anywhere; on the ferry, in the car or from my bed, my BEST work comes when I’m at the desk and I can be hyper-focused on the task at hand. Not only that, but it helps me get into the right headspace far more quickly.

Do you have a favourite playlist for work: I prefer the quiet when I’m writing but if I do pop a playlist on, it will be a random Spotify “Chill” playlist. I like not knowing which song comes on next!

Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: I’d love to hear from more writers!
