Workflow with Rebekah Bek, UX Writer at Ahrefs

In this edition of Workflow, we have Rebekah Bek, UX Writer at Ahrefs, talking about her love for all (strong) coffees and organised chaos.

Working from home and need some inspiration? Grab your copy of our Workflow book. Beautifully designed with gorgeous home office photos and stories from people around the world.

Describe what you do: I work at Ahrefs as a UX Writer. We make SEO tools to help you rank on Google and get more search traffic.

How do you like your coffee: Almost any way as long as it’s strong. Seriously, I love them all. It is not uncommon for me to have a double espresso, an iced mocha and a piccolo latte all within the same day.

Device(s) you use: Right now, a 16″ MacBook Pro. I also use the iPhone11 and have an old iPad that I read on.

Describe your working style in one sentence: Organised chaos. I’m kind of all over the place and let myself be that way as long as I finish the tasks I plan for the day/week.

What does your workspace look like: I work on my MacBook from my dining table at home most of the time (when I go to the office, I have a separate monitor which makes life easier for certain tasks). I’m about to rent a new apartment that isn’t a tiny studio soon, so hopefully I get a bigger area to set something up next time round!

How does your workspace affect your creative process: It has a huge influence. If I have to do any “creative thinking”, I’m almost never at my seat. I tend to take a break from my laptop while that happens – go do a chore, sit at my sofa or balcony, or go for a walk if I’m in the office. I start mapping ideas or sketching with a pen and notebook after that before I take it digital again.

Do you have a favourite playlist for work: Nope, it changes by the day.

Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Any writer, really.
