Partner up with Balance the Grind to showcase your brand’s story and promote healthy work-life balance. Get in touch with us about sponsorship opportunities.

Describe what you do: I’m, simply put, a ‘hunter’ in the marketing communications industry.

What do I mean by ‘hunter’? I am responsible for growth across the businesses within my portfolio – building relationships internally with our multidisciplinary teams to ensure we have the best talent in the business. as well as building relationships externally by courting, nurturing and successfully engaging clients to help tell their brand stories that influences and shapes popular culture.

How do you like your coffee: Filtered dark roast, strong, with creamer and three sugars after a hearty meal at breakfast. It’s the perfect end to a solid breakfast.

Device(s) you use:

  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
  • Apple wireless keyboard
  • Apple wireless mouse
  • iPhone 8 Plus for work calls, emails and an ancient iPhone 6 just for my music)
  • AirPods for work calls
  • Apple Watch
  • Bose Micro Soundlink – take it everywhere I go for ambience setting
  • Bose QC35 II noise cancelling headphones – for flights and commuting

Describe your working style in one sentence: Focused, collaborative, efficient, effective, detailed and importantly, fun!

What does your workspace look like: COVID-19 has somewhat changed my normal setting. But what has remained consistent is that the clean lines, very neat and organized layout – taken up by devices mostly, but with a writing space and a port for my ambient music. If this combination didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be able to focus otherwise.

Importantly, all the wires need to be in tidy loops or concealed ideally. Wires everywhere just frustrates me! Additionally, my desktop has to be very neat and organized – only two folders exist – Work and Personal. And within those, all documents are neatly filed and categorized. This is a pre-requisite for my brain to function!

I also have (had) a big white board in my office that allows me to paint an overview picture of everything that’s currently in process / in the pipeline – it’s a visual roadmap.

How does your workspace affect your creative process: Incredibly! I need clarity of thought to come up with my plans and ideas. But for a bit of colour (not necessarily mood boards) I do need to have splashes of pictures/colours that inspire and provide some ‘fun’ to the structured workspace. So in my usual office, I have tiles of various pictures I’ve taken on my many travels, of sceneries that are simply inspiring.

Do you have a favourite playlist for work: Absolutely. A specially curated playlist of jazz tracks that I call ‘Rainy Day Jazz’.

Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Lan Sansone, co-founder The Normal Brand.
